About Us
Jaya Karbon Kounsel is a climate action and sustainability non-profit organisation that works across multiple sectors, training and equipping rural communities with climate knowledge and smart technologies, partnering with governments to turn climate policy into tangible ground-level action, collaborating with schools, TVET institutions, universities and researchers to ensure climate knowledge is both academically rigorous and practically applicable, and advising corporate firms on building meaningful ESG strategies that deliver measurable environmental and social impact.
At Jaya Karbon Kounsel, we believe that lasting climate change solutions must be community-led, locally owned, and economically empowering, making sustainability not just an environmental goal, but a foundation for thriving, self-reliant communities across Africa and beyond.

Our work is anchored in four pillars.
P1 — Community Climate Resilience: One of the core areas of work at Jaya is engaging directly with grassroots communities who are most affected by climate change. We engage communities through an 8-step process, from outreach and co-created training schedules, through to project brainstorming, carbon project training, fundraising, and finally implementation and monitoring. Project areas include renewable energy, water conservation, waste management, energy efficiency, agroforestry, and afforestation. Where language barriers exist, Jaya uses a Training-of-Trainers (ToT) model, training form-four leavers and university students to deliver content in local languages.
P2 — Public Sector & Policy Integration: Jaya partners with national and county governments to translate climate policy into on-the-ground action. This includes aligning with County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs), building capacity in county teams, supporting community engagement structures, and helping counties become carbon market-ready with clear benefit-sharing frameworks and monitoring systems.
P3 — Academia & Research Collaboration: Jaya bridges academic knowledge and real-world climate action by running ToT workshops for university students, empowering community-based education (CBE) teachers, offering summer schools and bootcamps, developing e-learning courses, implementing applied climate projects in learning institutions, and supporting PhD researchers.
P4 — Corporate ESG Advisory & Implementation: Jaya supports companies in building practical ESG strategies, including capacity building for staff and boards, ESG strategy development aligned with global frameworks like GRI and IFRS, nature and climate projects, risk and compliance advisory, ESG reporting and disclosure systems, and designing community-impact projects that strengthen social license to operate.
